The Outreach Asia, Inc. provides scholarship to financially challenged students in the Philippines under the kind efforts and partnership of GEMS, which is a duly registered nonprofit organization. The organization encourages local and international sponsors to donate and provide access to deserving students in secondary and college education studying at the local universities. They also accept direct child sponsorships.
The Outreach Asia established a college sponsorship program for those students attending in Southern Leyte State University. The program is called GEMS College Fund.
The scholarship programs and other services were made possible and were provided through the continuous generosity of the private donors and also, from the grants that the Outreach Asia received from the foundations.
Founded in 2000 by Mike & Gina Peck, Outreach Asia has strived to improve the impoverished lives of children and families living in the developing countries of Southeast Asia. While this may seem a daunting task, by concentrating resources on the building of a solid infrastructure such as safe water supplies, upgrading educational resources, and addressing the medical needs and social pariah of leprosy, Outreach Asia has positively affected the lives of hundreds of people in the local communities they serve.
Through a dedicated network of 100% volunteers, they successfully minimized administrative costs to just the bare necessities needed to provide the services necessary for the under privileged of Southeast Asia. This frugality allowed the foundation to stretch the generous dollars provided by grants and personal contributions for use to where they are most needed.
The programs
Through the generous financial donations and the combined efforts of the local communities coming together to provide the necessary labor, the foundation seeks to bring a better way of life to impoverished communities in Southeast Asia.
By supporting a leprosy hospital and also livelihood projects at an outpatient community to help patients overcome not only the disease, but the social affliction that plagues them as well.
Continuing to ensure fresh, clean, and safe drinking water at Elementary Schools by installing new potable water systems.
They will continue to provide access to secondary education at the local university. Only by educating the children on the communities can they ever hope to break the cycle of poverty that has trapped their families for generations.
