Get VECO Summer Job Through PESO | Philippine Scholarship

Posted on May 8, 2018February 20, 2019 by Free Tuition, Study Now

Just like the other summer jobs, the applicant undergoes a written exam and a personal interview. When accepted, they will have the opportunity to learn from the regular employees of VECO. This prepares the student for the actual work in the future. The PESO endorses the students wanting to experience summer job while in College through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) to the Visayan Electric Company (VECO) summer job program.

Only 15 are usually hired by VECO. Since January 2009, the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) has been accepting applicants, especially students who are in their second year and third year in college.

The SPES is mandated under Republic Act 7323, otherwise known as An Act to Help Deserving Students Pursue their Education, by Encouraging their Employment during Summer and or Christmas Vacation.

Only students who complied with their requirements are qualified to avail themselves of the summer jobs and will be given recommendation letters from the PESO Capitol for them to submit to the company where they will apply based on their ages and qualifications or know-how if there is any.

Some of the participating private entities are the VECO, Gaisano Capital, Metro Ayala and Brutus Foods. 60% of the salaries will be shouldered by the concerned private firms while the 40% shall be shared by the Department of Labor and Employment.

Eligibility

Students who would like to avail of the summer job program usually starts work on April 1. The Department of Labor allows them to work for 30 to 45 days.

Those who may apply should be aged 15 to 30, and are studying high school or college. The parents should have a combined income of no more than P131,484 a year. Work opportunities range from service crew to clerical aides and baggers.

SPES and PESO

Qualified applicants of the PESO are referred to companies that partner with the SPES program, and will be deployed to establishments near their homes. In 2018, there were over 300 slots available for students in the Province of Cebu who would want to avail of the Special Program Employment of Students (SPES).

PESO aims to maximize the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) program to uplift the youth by providing them career skills in job hunting and application. The program has long been part of the Province’s positive action for the students who wish to not only learn the skills in applying for a job, but also take a productive role during their summer break since they will also earn in the process.

Upon qualification, PESO will refer the applicants to the companies. Successful job-seekers will be distributed to the establishments located in their municipality or area, or nearest their address if available.
