Faustino Aguilar Study Grant | Philippine Scholarship

An applicant of this scholarship shall have finished the first two years of any course offered at the College of Arts and Letters or College of Education, preferably major in Filipino language. Graduates of accredited high schools who are UPCAT qualifiers may be admitted as freshmen into the College of Arts and Letters. Arts and Letters is a traditional term for the fine arts and literature considered together.

 

Students in the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) may choose from among the 10 major fields under the Bachelor of Arts program: Araling Pilipino, Art Studies, Comparative Literature, Creative Writing, English Studies, European Languages, Filipino, Malikhaing Pagsulat sa Filipino, Speech Communication and Theater Arts. However, you should understand the Faustino Aguilar scholarship prefers those who major in the Filipino language.

 

Students in the College of Arts & Letters explore human expression, experience and values through a wide variety of subject areas, including the creative and performing, film, languages and literature, art history, philosophy and religious studies as well as the interdisciplinary fields of humanities and women studies.

 

A major in Arts & Letters is a powerful academic foundation that provides you the opportunity to develop skills value in employees, include oral and written communication, interpersonal, teamwork, technical, analytical, critical thinking, organizational and problem solving skills.

 

Faustino Aguilar was a novelist, journalist and editor. He was one of the first novelist in the Philippines to explore and present social realism through literature. He authored the Busabos Ng Palad, Sa Ngalan Ng Diyos, Ang Lihim Ng Isang Pulo, Ang Patawad Ng Patay, Ang Kaligtasan, and the Pinaglahuan. He was a member of the Katipunan and the editor of the Taliba newspaper.

 

 

Eligibility

Belongs to a needy family whose annual gross income does not exceed P100,000.00

 

Has not been subject to disciplinary action of any kind

 

Is a natural born citizen of the Philippines

 

Has obtained an average grade of “2.50” or better during the semester immediately preceding the application

 

Has no grade of “5.00” nor has he obtained a grade of “4.00” or “inc” which has not yet been removed at the time application
