Special Projects on Education
Jean Henri Lhuillier directed the establishment of the Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation Inc. (CLFI) to serve as the corporate vehicle of the company for sharing their blessings to the Filipino community. Formerly called PJ Lhuillier Foundation Inc, the CLFI was established on December 28, 2000 as a non-stock, non-profit charitable organization and was officially rebranded in August 2013.
Known for administering poverty alleviation measures to underserved and disadvantaged individuals and sectors nationwide, CLFI has undertaken numerous projects under its 4 key advocacies.
Established in 2013 with the Department of Education, the ALS provides academic, livelihood, spiritual and social education to former out-of-school youth and adults in the elementary and secondary levels.
“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”
So far, the CLFI has established 31 ALS centers in different communities, where some were located in calamity stricken areas of Tacloban, Bohol, Eastern Samar, and Northern Cebu. In line with its goal of further expanding the reach of its education advocacy, Cebuana Lhuillier, through its social responsibility arm Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc. (CLFI), has launched seven new Alternative Learning System (ALS) centers in the city of Makati, increasing the current number of its ALS centers to 73 nationwide, nine of which are all located in various barangays in Makati City.
These Cebuana Lhuillier ALS centers were equipped with improved facilities and programs that aim to help more Filipinos get better jobs. leading to higher income. The program allows more people, especially the low income households in the Philippines, access to more provisions so they can build better lives for themselves and their families.
The foundation moves forward in pursuing its core goal, which is to make education accessible to all Filipinos from different walks of life. The DualTech Training center is one of its partner institutions for the scholarship.
