AFS Philippines is committed to helping young people to go abroad regardless of their financial situation. AFS works with corporate and community sponsors and individual donors to help finance AFS programs through full and partial scholarships.
AFS Intercultural Programs is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, nonprofit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills, and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
AFS is also offering a scholarship for high school year program in Japan. This program aims to develop motivation of local students to study abroad and gain global competence. It will also build high school network between Japan and Asia.

Whether you get to live with a host family or in a dorm, you will attend a Japanese high school and make friends with your Japanese peers. All this will help you improve your Japanese speaking skills, your academic prospects and your intercultural fluency.
The AFS programs were designed for young adults, professionals, and teachers. The next generation of AFS international study, volunteer and internship programs offers adults exceptional opportunities to achieve your global ambitions. Partial Scholarships
AFS is offering partial scholarships for year long high school exchange programs in over 10 countries with a corresponding fee.
Selection criteria
The participants should be from lower/ middle income background
To confirm the income background home visit (IT Return/ Form 16) along with the application. Details of the parental/ ancestral property to be also disclosed in the application (Please consult your parents and lawyer about this)
Participant should have earned minimum B+ or B1 in last three years
Participants shouldn’t have travelled abroad for personal reasons
Selection of the participant will be towards the end of the selection process at national office
Since AFS PHI is offering these partial scholarships, volunteers should ensure that these are given to appropriate and deserving candidates
Decision of the AFS PHI National Office will be final in this regard
YES Program
The YES Program is administered in partnership with the US Department of State by a consortium of non-profit organizations led by American Councils for International Education and various placement and recruitment organizations.
Students live with host families, attend high school, engage in activities to learn about American society and values, acquire leadership skills, and help educate Americans about their countries and culture.
Eligibility
Citizens or permanent resident of the Philippines
Meet the age and grade requirements
Enrolled in a secondary school at a time of application
Equivalent of a B average or better without failing grades
Have not completed more than 11 years of primary education nor received a high school diploma by the start of the program
Demonstrate sufficient English language ability to speak and study in English
Meet US visa eligibility requirements
Commitment to cultural immersion in the United States through a home stay experience
