ADB Internship Program | Philippine Scholarship

Posted on August 6, 2018February 20, 2019 by Free Tuition, Study Now

The ADB Internship Program is a project oriented learning opportunity for graduate students to gain experience through research assignments based on Asian Development Bank current operational needs. ADB advertises internship assignments twice a year and welcomes motivated, open minded and self-directed individuals as targeted applicants of the program.

The internship program offers the opportunity to work in a major international development organization and work collaboratively with experienced professionals from over 50 different countries.

It also gives you the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of development finance and the impact of the work ADB does. You have the chance to contribute to ADB’s business through research outputs.

The ADB evaluates applications based on eligibility requirements, relevance of academic study and work experience. They also look on your level of interest and motivation to contribute to the development work.

As a general rule, interns do not have travel assignments during the internship period. You can apply only once for this program and the past interns will not be allowed to apply for another internship with ADB.

Eligibility

Must be enrolled in a Masters or PhD level program at a school in one of the ADB member nations, both prior to and after the internship assignment

Must be engaged in academic study in a field directly related to ADB’s work

Must be a national of one of ADB’s members

Must possess an excellent command of English

Have a professional experience relevant to the assignment

Please take note that the internship application process is online through the ADB Career and Employment System (ACES). School registration and nomination is no longer required.

Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered anymore. To avoid errors in submission, the applicants are advised not to wait until the last day of the application period in submitting their internship applications.

Selection process

The eligible candidates can apply through the ADB Career and Employment System (ACES).

ADB announces the assignments on the website and candidates choose assignments of interest.

The candidates can apply through the ACES, prepare for their CVs and answer the essay questions. All of the CV and essay should be uploaded to the ACES.

The ADB may take a look on your institutional representation, gender and nationality balance in the over all intern selection process. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Duration of internship

The duration should be a minimum of 8 weeks (56 days) and a maximum of 26 weeks (6 months) for one internship assignment.

Students can apply directly online. There is no need to be nominated by the school. The schools are no longer required to register with ADB.

The ADB Internship Program accommodates only post graduate level students. There is no internship opportunity for undergraduate students.

Stipend

Stipend is provided to all interns according to the location of internships up to 56 calendar days. Interns may choose to work beyond 56 calendar days in agreement with the designated supervisors, but without stipend.

Exception to receiving stipend would be interns who fall under the special arrangement category between select schools and ADB.

Upon intern’s appointment, ADB provides a limited amount to cover part of the airfare travel cost should air travel be necessary between the internship location and the authorized point of origin (i.e. school location).

Working hours

The regular work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one-hour lunch break. Any other preferred schedule should be discussed with supervisors.

Completing an internship does not automatically qualify for an employment with ADB; however, ADB welcomes former interns to apply for jobs after they graduate from schools.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is committed to achieving a prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Asia and the Pacific, while sustaining its efforts to eradicate extreme poverty.

It assists its members and partners by providing loans, technical assistance, grants, and equity investments to promote social and economic development.
